While these studies provide valuable guidance for pediatric clinicians, more studies of monoclonal antibodies and other COVID-19 therapies in children are needed. Monoclonal antibodies (mAb) were among the earliest therapies developed for COVID-19. In adults with risk factors for severe disease, early use of mAb therapy prevents hospitalization or death due to COVID-19 [1]. Monoclonal antibody therapy has been an important treatment modality for high-risk patients, though the continued emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants and subvariants has rendered all existing mAb products obsolete as of this writing. To date, five different mAb products have received emergency use authorization (EUA) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), including bamlanivimab, bamlanivimab-etesevimab, casirivimab-imdevimab, sotrovimab, and bebtelovimab. Data supporting their EUAs were mainly derived from adult patients with COVID-19, with most industry-sponsored randomized controlled trials (RCTs) excluding children below 12 years of age. 收起
