Stimulation of IL-1beta at significant levels was first recorded at 4 h and was at its maximum 8 days after PG injection. Using RT-PCR, the IL-1beta genes in kidney cells of carp treated with PG was also expressed. The PG-injected carp serum costimulated the mitogenic responses of carp lymphocytes by phytohaemoag-glutinin (PHA-P). Furthermore, the superoxide anion production of kidney. phagocytic cells in carp injected with PG increased significantly. These results suggest the production of IL-1beta was due to the immune stimulation by PG. 收起
