It is shown that the mechanical properties of films formed from latexes, plasticized or not, fit to a 'limited parabolic' rheological model better than to the more commonly used models. The results showed that the WLF concept and the Adam-Gibbs relationship were applicable, so that master curves for the storage and loss moduli could be drawn and the polymer relaxation times determined. From the model, a new definition has been derived for the minimum film formation temperature. The model allows the calculation of the viscoelastic properties a polymer should present for complete sintering under defined drying conditions. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science S.A. [References: 57]
