摘要: China is now a major economic and trade power and a leading source of Foreign Direct Investment(FDI)in Africa,despite the fact that it is a relative newcomer on the internationalization stage.In this study,a single industry approa... 展开 China is now a major economic and trade power and a leading source of Foreign Direct Investment(FDI)in Africa,despite the fact that it is a relative newcomer on the internationalization stage.In this study,a single industry approach was taken in order to investigate the effects of the outward internationalization of Chinese telecommunications corporations in African countries.Traditional areas of investment in Africa,such as mining and the energy sector(resources),have been giving way to newer areas,such as the manufacturing and service industries,particularly the telecommunications industry.The research was carried out in Kenya,Nigeria,and Senegal,and it utilized focus group interviews with a total of 110 professionals working in the field of telecommunications.The empirical evidence suggests that China''s investment in telecommunications in Africa is warmly welcomed,and it is rising on a platform of perceived mutually beneficial trade arrangements and favorable pricing.This is supported by the fact that the empirical evidence suggests that China''s investment in telecommunications in Africa is rising.The investment from China is resulting in the creation of new jobs,the expansion of access to various telecommunications services,and the acceleration of the upgrading of the underlying infrastructure.On theother hand,there is a certain amount of criticism.There is a widespread perception that China is either unwilling to share manufacturing know-how with her African partners or is not making sufficient efforts toimprove governance and accountability on the African continent.There is untapped potential to deepen theconnection between us.These findings are significant because they can inform development experts,politicians,academics,and investors who are already operating in Africa or who have plans to begin operations there. 收起
