It embraces satellite-based surveillance, digital communications, and performance- based navigation within a net-centric environment. NextGen also ensures that defense and security needs are met and that U.S. leadership in global aviation is retained. Ultimately, the return on NextGen s investments will yield positive benefits for our nation s economy. The JPDO is responsible for developing a framework for NextGen planning and development, identifying and prioritizing key multi-agency concerns, and driving consensus in the development of investment choices and decisions. By executing its collaborative processes, the JPDO ensures efficient coordination between the Federal partners whose decisions impact NextGen, namely the FAA, NASA, DOD, DOT, DHS, and DOC.
