This model utilizes the OPTSIM simulation environment in order to model effects of target signature, background clutter, atmospheric attenuation, and sensor characteristics. An OPTSIM model component (IrstDyn) has been developed to automate the performance modeling. This model component has several built in criteria for target detection and moves the sensor platform around the target to find the critical detection distance at several aspect angles. The report discusses the different criteria for automatic target detection that are built into IrstDyn and shows several examples of simulation results. These examples have illustrated different aspects of IRST modeling using this method and have also investigated the influence of a background. The report also contains a chapter where the Johnson criterion for detection is used to give a rough estimate about the detection performance characteristics of the IRST-system. Results from these calculations are compared with the OPTSIM based calculations. 收起
