I am pleased to enclose... 展开 The Inspector General Act of 1978 (Public Law 95-452), as amended (the Act), requires the preparation of a Semiannual Report to the Congress summarizing the activities of Offices of Inspector General (OIG). I am pleased to enclose a report for the period March 1, 2003 to March 31, 2003. The Act also mandates that you transmit this report to the appropriate committees of Congress within 30 days of receipt, together with any comments thereon you may wish to make. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and DHS OIG likewise, came into being on March 1, 2003. Hence, this first semiannual report covers only one month of the standard six month reporting period. However, to provide a more complete picture of the issues facing DHS, I have included brief summaries of the audits, investigations, and inspections completed by the legacy agency OIGs during the period October 1, 2002 through February 28, 2003. The legacy agency Inspectors General will issue their own respective reports for this six month period. 收起
