Using the methods of optimal control theory and numerical simulation, fuel-optimal flight paths are computed and compared with conventional vertical profiles for typical mission scenarios. Algorithms for on-board guidance to minimize fuel use are synthesized and evaluated, and functional requirements for system implementation are developed. Concepts for flight testing this throttle/energy management technique are presented. 收起
