The design starts from the selection of a proper Schottky-varactor which is then analyzed using harmonic balance techniques to find theoretically available efficiency and output power, and associated impedances. A crossed waveguide mount is then designed using the results of the theoretical analysis and experience from scaled model measurements and from previous multiplier designs at lower frequencies. Differences in the design between higher-order frequency multipliers and a doubler have been commented. The constructed doubler utilizing a VD011 varactor from Farran Technology has been tested over the output frequency range of 160-193 GHz. 收起
