Kresek resulted with less frequency when older plants were infected with leaf blight. The pale yellow symptom was found to be a secondary effect of either leaf blight or kresek. The older the plants, the lower the percentage of kresek induced by root dip. There were varietal differences to kresek infection. IR1545 was as susceptible as IR8 from 6 to 16 DS. Varieties such as IR20 and IR1545 are resistant to leaf blight but as susceptible as IR8 to kresek. Dipping seedling roots in zinc solution before transplanting reduced the incidence of kresek. 收起
