As one of the NationalInstitute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Laboratories, our mission is to develop and promote measurement, standards, and technology for information technology (IT) to enhance productivity, facilitate trade, and improve the quality of life. We also develop computer security standards and guidelines for the federal government in fulfillment of a legislative mandate. Working in partnership with industry, academia, government, and consortia, we develop and demonstrate tests, test methods, reference data, proof-of-concept implementations, and other IT infrastructure technologies. Our goal is to enable the future of the U.S. IT industry to produce products and services that are high quality, reliable, interoperable, and secure.
