There is a need for training on the development of traffic control strategies to ensure adequate consideration of state-of-the-art practices and procedures in maximizing safety while minimizing traffic disruption in work zones. This course is for state and local personnel responsible for the development of traffic control plans. It develops technical skills in work zone strategies, which is the science to plan and develop large highway projects that optimize the relationship between project cost, societal cost (costs to the community), highway safety, and traffic management. The curriculum includes state-of-the-art traffic control and management strategies and discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of each concerning safety and traffic management. Traffic control strategies for basic types of work are presented. 收起
