The effect of mechanical... 展开 This document reports on studies conducted at reclaimed, coal mining siteslocated in Belmont and Columbiana Counties, Ohio. Both sites were reclaimed using scraper pans resulting in severe soil compaction. The effect of mechanical alleviation to reduce this compaction was examined at both sites. At the Belmont Co. site, tillage treatments were imposed in 1985 and the site was cropped with an alfalfa/orchardgrass mixture. At the Columbiana Co. site, tillage treatments were imposed on the Fall of 1988. The Columbiana Co. study focused on a novel method of deep tillage and also the effect of forage vs. row crop production on mechanical compaction alleviation. 收起
