摘要: We perform wall-modeled large eddy simulations (WMLES) of turbulent flow over the three-dimensional Gaussian-shaped speed bump geometry, to assess its performance in the acceleration and separation regions of the flow along with i... 展开 We perform wall-modeled large eddy simulations (WMLES) of turbulent flow over the three-dimensional Gaussian-shaped speed bump geometry, to assess its performance in the acceleration and separation regions of the flow along with its ability to capture Reynolds number trends on the flowfleld. An unstructured finite-volume solver is used along with an equilibrium wall model. The flow conditions are based on recent experiments by Gray et al. [AIAA Scitech Paper 2022-1209], and the Reynolds number based on the bump length are 2 and 4 million. Spanwise periodic simulations are used to assess the grid resolution requirements for increasing Reynolds number. Our results suggest that the grid resolution is a function of Reynolds number to accurately capture the separation characteristics of the flow. Three-dimensional WMLES computations showed excellent qualitative and quantitative agreement with experimental data at both Reynolds numbers, and produced more accurate predictions compared to Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS). Experiment, RANS and WMLES indicate that the flowfield is not strongly dependent on Reynolds number for the chosen conditions and configuration. 收起
