A realistic duct, transitioning from a circular cross-section to a rectangular cross-section, is designed and fully defined for both the straight, benchmark case, and a curved (CFJ) case. The system design then accounts for the full interaction between the external flow over the airfoil and the internal flow within the duct. It was found that a fan with an overall efficiency in excess of -75% is required for a net-positive power savings during cruise. 收起
