A total of 11 tunnel runs in the Tex... 展开 Femtosecond laser electronic excitation tagging (FLEET) was applied to velocimetry on a hypersonic double-fin inlet model in the Texas A&M University Actively Controlled Expansion (ACE) tunnel. A total of 11 tunnel runs in the Texas A&M University Actively Controlled Expansion (ACE) tunnel were performed to investigate the incoming boundary layer state. Boundary layer velocity profiles were obtained in Mach 5.7 air at several streamwise locations to evaluate the laminar-to-turbulent transition produced by two boundary layer trip geometries, a diamond trip array and synthetic roughness, through comparison with Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) simulations. The FLEET measurements of the boundary layer indicate that the diamond trip array transitions the flow to turbulence more quickly than the synthetic roughness trips, as observed by the evolution of the mean velocity towards an ideal turbulent profile and by the increase of RMS velocity near the surface of the test article. A moderate disagreement in the mean velocity between the trip arrays and CFD was observed at the upper limit of the boundary layer. Duplicate measurements taken with each tripping array estimate the repeatability of FLEET. 收起
