The nylon bead is considered to be a compliant (high flexibility) with h... 展开 In this study, bond-based peridynamic approach is used to simulate nylon bead impact on zinc sulfide target at velocities in a range from 200 m/s to 800 m/s. The nylon bead is considered to be a compliant (high flexibility) with high strain to failure behavior. The experimental observations from literature included representative cross-sectional images of fracture patterns as well as depth of damaged area. A total of 25 two-dimensional peridynamic simulations spanning the velocity range of interest were performed; qualitative and quantitative comparisons against the experimental data are made. The peridynamic predictions for the fracture depth are found to be satisfactory. The peridynamic simulations are also capable of predicting fracture angles similar to those experimentally measured at higher velocities. 收起
