This engine is a combinedevolution of the MP (Otto) and LP (Miller) variants and therefore part of the same 2.0L, 4-cylinder family. Continued study of the LP Miller engine developed an understandingof how higher power could be achieved while maintaining much of the fuel efficiencybenefit. Significant attention was given to what components and systems needed to bereworked versus carried over from the base MP variant to create a cost-effective Millerconcept. The exhaust aftertreatment system sees significant cost savings in reducedprecious metal loading. This is achieved through improved flow and temperature uniformityand improved methods and materials protecting against catalyst ageing. Theengine is fitted with two different aftertreatment systems. One system complies withthe SULEV30 PM1 emissions regulation without the use of a gasoline particulate filter(GPF). The other includes a GPF to meet China 6b and Euro 6d/e regulations. Duringdevelopment of the combustion system, a tradeoff was identified between increasedtumble and the resulting increased convective heat losses that brings. Additionalchanges (unrelated to the Miller concept) have been made to the base engine designwhich reduce both cost and mechanical noise. The end result is a 184 kW (250 PS)2.0 L engine with strict lambda = 1 operation producing the highest lambda = 1 powerof any Aurobay SI-engine variant. Brake efficiency remains high in a broad region ofthe operating map. 收起
