It contains a number of essential bio-chemicals, including n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids as health supportive to human beings. It takes a long journey from sea to freshwater for breeding. Until recent past, its population is declining in an alarming state. To conserve its population, ICAR-CIFA initiated its domestication in freshwater pond through following steps: breeding, rearing of seeds and grow-out culture of upto brooders. 收起
