In this study, the sampling statistics of X-ray diffraction data obtained from polycrystalline nanopowders are studied through analytical formulations and numerical modelling. It is shown that the very large acceptance angles of crystalline nanoparticles can cause issues in computing the number of diffracting grains scattering into a given Bragg reflection. These results intimate that formulations previously tested and verified for polycrystalline aggregates with grains larger than 500 nm should be revalidated for particles with coherent scattering lengths below 10 nm.

Ayurveda has emphasized the importance of Shodhana procedure for various metals, minerals and poisonous herbs before preparation of any compound formuiation. This process is aimed at removal of blemishes and bring about physical, chemical and bioiogicai changes in the subjected drug. Kupeelu (Nux-vomica) is widely used in a large number of herbo-mineral formulations after subjecting to shodhana. Previous works pertaining to this process have shown its efficacy in removing the toxic principles. Revalidation of the process has been carried out by shodhana in different media. On the basis of analytical parameters it was found that total alkaloid contents of seeds also decreased after shodhana process. It has been infered that godugdha (cow's milk) can be considered as best media for kupeelu shodhana as optimum extraction is ensured.

Although nurses are encouraged to reflect on their practice from pre-registration education onwards, many are anxious about the process and unclear how it is done or what it can achieve. This article discusses approaches to reflection and presents a new, triangular model of reflection that encourages nurses to share their reflections and helps to ensure they gain useful insights from the exercise. n order to continually improve the care they provide, nurses are encouraged to reflect in, and on, their practice. They are given this message from pre-registration studies, while its importance is now emphasised to qualified nurses by the inclusion of reflection as a key element of nurse revalidation (Nursing and Midwifery Council, 2015a). Nurses are required to use the Code (NMC, 2015b) as a focus for reflecting on aspects of their practice, as part of their ongoing professional development and accountability. However, reflection causes anxiety among students and qualified nurses alike. Many are unsure how to capture reflective moments and to make sense of them. This, coupled with largely superficial models with which to structure their reflections, means the potential for reflections to lead to meaningful deep learning is, at best, limited.

Pellegrin rejected the validity of Monostichodus elongatus, described by Vaillant and type species of the genus Monostichodus, based on the lack of a proper species description, and redescribed Vaillant's specimens as Hemistichodus vaillanti. After review of the relevant articles in the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature, however, no arguments were found to consider M. elongatus as a nomen nudum. This implies that Hemistichodus should be considered as a junior synonym of the genus Monostichodus, which includes three valid species: M. elongatus (with Hemistichodus vaillanti as a junior synonym), M. mesmaekersi and M. lootensi. Two species are transferred from Nothopleurus to Olethrius Lacordaire and the following new combinations are proposed: Olethrius cariosicollis (Fairmaire), Olethrius macrothorax (Montrouzier). Nothopleurus arabicus (Buquet) is transferred from Nothopleurus and returned to its original genus as Mallodon arabicum. Mallodon castaneum (Casey) is revalidated in Nothopleurus. Hovorodon gen. nov. is proposed and Cerambyx maxillosusDrury is designated as the type species. Four species are transferred from Nothopleurus to the new genus: Nothopleurus bituberculatus (Palisot de Beauvois), Nothopleurus maxillosus (Drury), Nothopleurus santacruzensis Hovore & Santos-Silva, and Nothopleurus subcancellatus (Thomson). The species of Nothopleurus and of the new genus are redescribed and illustrated. A new country record is recorded for Nothopleurus subsulcatus (Dalman) (Bahamas) and new state records are recorded for N. lobigenis Bates (Mexico: Guerrero, Nayarit). Mallodon hornebecki Chevrolat is considered a valid described species and synonymous with Prionus bituberculatus (= Nothopleurus bituberculatus). Brachymystax tsinlingensis Li, 1966 is revalidated and redescribed. It can be distinguished from all congeners by the following combination of characteristics: no spots on operculum; gill rakers 15-20; lateral-line scales 98-116; pyloric caeca 60-71. Unique morphological characters and genetic divergence of this species are discussed. This species has a limited distribution in several streams of the middle part of the Qinling Mountains in China. Methods for management and protection of B. tsinlingensis need to be re-evaluated.

The American sciaenid genus Macrodon presently consists of only two species, the Atlantic Macrodon ancylodon (Bloch & Schneider, 1801), and the Pacific Macrodon mordax (Gilbert & Starks, 1904). The two species are distinguished mainly by the number ofpored scales on the lateral line (66-78 in M. ancylodon vs. 45-55 in M. mordax). The present study revalidates a third species, the second from the Atlantic, Macrodon atricauda (Gunther, 1880), which is genetically, morphologically, and geographically distinct from M ancylodon, occurring between the Brazilian state of Espírito Santo and northern Argentina. It has significant economic importance in the area and thus considerations about its conservation are also presented....
